Cuteness

This post is entirely because I feel like I don't dote on Lincoln enough. So here you go:

And his current favorite activity:

Hello Song!

I enrolled Pippa in a music class this fall. It's a great time for the two of us to go do something special together. We both love it. Lola watches Lincoln (which they both love) and Pippa gets some one on one mommy time. The class is led by a teacher, Miss Marilyn.  We sing a bunch of different songs designed to introduce kids to different aspects of musicality, and thankfully Miss Marilyn explains it all, thereby giving me an education as well. Most of the songs have actions to go along with them and each week there is a different instrument to play with. It's really funny to watch all the kids behave so differently. Some are very rambunctious and some just sit on their mother's lap and suck their thumb. I'll give you one guess which one Pippa is. Yup. She's the thumb sucker. (Probably part of the reason she keeps getting colds!) As part of the class we were given a song book and 2 CD's of all the songs we will be singing throughout the fall. Isn't that great?! We can listen to them at home and in the car! (Is my sarcasm coming through?) So while on the one hand this means I want to blow my brains out because I've listen to these stupid kids songs so many times that I literally wake up in the middle of the night singing them, on the other hand it is really good for Pippa because she is getting more comfortable with the music and loves to sing along and do all the actions at home. It's very cute, actually. And we today we were able to catch a Saturday morning class along with Sto and Lincoln. It was a family affair! Pippa was tickled pink and when we got home Sto pulled out the guitar and the song book and they continued to jam out for a while. If you listen carefully in this video you can hear her favorite song 'Hello and Welcome' better known as the 'Hello Song!' in our house.

Going Private

Hi all. I want to let everyone who follows my blog know how much I appreciate you! I love that there are random people I don't even know reading about my motherhood escapades. But I've decide to make this blog private since I post so many pictures of my family. If you'd like to be sent a link so that you can continue to read whenever you want please get word to me, either threw a family member or by commenting on this post. I will add you to my e-mail list. I'll wait a few weeks before restricting it. Thanks all.

NOFX: good for the soul

My push-present from Laura was tickets to NOFX. Most of you have probably never heard of them, but they are a punk band that we started to listen to more than 10 years ago. They are crass and irreverent and I love them. We used to go to shows back in college and the years following but it's been a long time since I've been to a good, old fashioned punk show. And it was awesome. Kind of like going home. Yes, we felt very old and had never heard of the 2 opening bands, but there were a lot of old timers like us there. Well, maybe not 'a lot' but enough. We grabbed a couple of beers and found 2 choice seats. We chatted up a couple of guys in a similar stage of life as us and complained about NOFX not starting their set until 10pm, getting very close to our bedtimes! But once the headlining band started we pushed our way threw the crowd to the very front. I quickly remembered the somewhat defensive stance that is required at a show like that, with feet squarely planted and one arm braced to absorb someone from the pit should they get thrown into me. And, true to form, Laura almost got into a fight with some annoying young girl next to her who didn't know how to respect her elders. I was ready to back her up, but could not help but roll my eyes at the thought of getting into a fight. I'm seriously too old for that! All in all, the night was refreshing for the soul. Sto and I vowed to go see more live music in the future so if you hear of anything good let us know!
